Incident Response: What To Do When Your Company Gets Hacked



Getting hacked is not the end of the story.
What matters is how quickly and correctly the organization responds.

6 Steps After an Attack

1. Detect & Confirm
Identify the incident and determine what systems or accounts may be affected.

2. Contain
Isolate compromised systems and stop the attacker from spreading further.

3. Preserve Evidence
Keep logs, alerts, affected devices, and other evidence for investigation. Don't destroy evidence by rushing to wipe systems.

4. Investigate
Determine how the attacker got in, what they accessed, and whether data was stolen.

5. Recover
Remove the attacker's access, fix the root cause, restore systems safely, and monitor them closely.

6. Learn & Improve
Document what happened and strengthen security controls to prevent a similar incident.

The Golden Rule

Don't panic. Don't guess. Don't immediately delete everything.

A rushed response can destroy valuable evidence and make the incident harder to understand.

6 خطوات بعد الاختراق

1. اكتشف وأكد الحادث
حدد المشكلة واعرف الأنظمة والحسابات اللي ممكن تكون اتأثرت.

2. احتوي الهجوم
اعزل الأنظمة المخترقة وحاول تمنع المهاجم من الانتشار داخل الشبكة.

3. حافظ على الأدلة
احتفظ بالـLogs والتنبيهات والأجهزة والبيانات المهمة للتحقيق. متستعجلش في مسح الأنظمة.

4. حقّق في اللي حصل
اعرف المهاجم دخل إزاي، وصل لإيه، وهل حصل تسريب للبيانات.

5. استرجع الأنظمة
اقفل وصول المهاجم، عالج سبب الاختراق، استرجع الأنظمة بأمان، وراقبها بعد العودة للعمل.

6. اتعلم من الحادث
وثّق اللي حصل وحسّن إجراءات الحماية عشان نفس السيناريو ميتكررش.

القاعدة الذهبية

متتوترش. متخمنش. ومتعملش مسح لكل حاجة على طول.

التصرف العشوائي ممكن يضيّع أدلة مهمة ويصعّب معرفة اللي حصل.
